Specifically, the project “European-African Network to improve HEIs in Agriculture and Forestry based on new labour market needs” (AFOLM) aims to enhance the capacity of faculties in identifying the dynamic needs of the labour market and to effectively reflect these needs through an enhanced curriculum. It brings together the University of Dschang (Cameroon), the University of Ghana and the Federal University of Technology Akure (Nigeria) as well as the University of Alicante (Spain) and Albert-Ludwigs University Freiburg (Germany).
The project’s main objective is to improve the quality and relevance of professional training in agriculture and forestry in Cameroon, Ghana and Nigeria through an active exchange of best practices within a network of African and European universities. The partner institutions will collaborate to enhance the quality of professional training in agriculture and forestry faculties, ensuring that graduates are well-equipped for the challenges of the new labour market. The project will also strengthen university management capacities in partner universities.
In order to understand and meet expectations from the agriculture and forestry sector, AFOLM partners will closely collaborate in view of creating more opportunities for African universities to effectively engage stakeholders, in particular the industry. Through a series of workshops, meetings and stakeholder consultations, working groups in each country will review the current curricula to innovatively incorporate inputs from the industry and other relevant stakeholders.
