4th EDULINK Stakeholder Conference, Brussels, 26-28 October 2010

We are currently preparing the 4th EDULINK Stakeholder Conference, scheduled to take place from 26 - 28 October 2010 at ACP House in Brussels .

This year the conference will be organised jointly with the ACP-EU Science &Technology Programme in such a way that each programme will have one specifically dedicated day (EDULINK: 26 October; S&T: 28 October). Wednesday, 27 October, will be dedicated to topics that are related to the two programmes and of interest to the participants (including potential participants) at both programmes.

The draft agenda for the Joint Stakeholder Conference of the ACP-EU Edulink and Science and Technology Programes will soon be available in this web site.

We would like to see among the attendees all the EDULINK and Science and Technology Projects as well as all institutional parties interested in ACP-EU Higher Education and Science and Technology cooperation activities.

ACP States Observatory on Migration

The African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) States Observatory on Migration is a new institution created to provide reliable data and information on migration flows in ACP countries. The objective is to design better policies to enhance the contribution migration to development. The Observatory will be officially launched in a ceremony foreseen on 25-27 October 2010 gathering relevant figures from the political, economic and cultural fields both in the EU and the ACP countries.

 

2nd revision of the Cotonou Partnership Agreement: streamlining the relevance of the ACP-EU cooperation

On 19 March, the European Commission and the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of 79 States (ACP) have concluded and initalled the text of the second revision of the Cotonou Partnership Agreement.

The revised text adapts the EU-ACP Partnership Agreement to include current global challenges, such as climate change, food security, regional integration, State fragility and aid effectiveness. It also focuses on the importance of regional integration for ACP countries' economic and sustainable growth.

 

Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas takes over as new Secretary General of the ACP Group and the ACP Secretariat

On 1st March 2010, Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas took over as new Secretary General of the African Caribbean and Pacific Group (ACP) and the ACP Secretariat, a 79-strong group of nations.

He accedes to the post at a crucial time for the ACP Group requiring firm leadership in the face of challenges such as the various regional trade packages the EC is concluding with individual African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) regions.

 

New Call for Proposals expected by end 2010

A new Call for Proposals is scheduled to be published before the end of 2010 with a financial volume of € 20 million. In its broad outline it will be similar to the 3 previous calls, but there may be differences in some details.
